The Macallan Private Eye was created in 1996 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the British satirical magazine *Private Eye*. Crafted by renowned whisky maker F.A. Newlands, this exceptional expression is a vatting of mature sherry oak cask whiskies, including spirit from the celebrated 1961 Cask No. 1580. Limited to just 5,000 individually numbered bottles, each adorned with an original illustration by acclaimed artist Ralph Steadman, The Macallan Private Eye represents a unique fusion of whisky, art and publishing. Today, it remains one of the most recognisable and sought-after releases in The Macallan's modern history.

On the nose, it reveals rich aromas of dried fruits, orange peel, polished oak and dark chocolate, layered with notes of toffee, roasted coffee and warming spices. The palate is exceptionally smooth and full-bodied, unfolding with flavours of raisins, figs, treacle, cocoa, toasted almonds and sweet sherry, balanced by hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and mature oak. The finish is long, elegant and warming, leaving lingering notes of dried fruits, dark chocolate, gentle spice and refined oak.
