The Akkeshi - "Boshu" - 24 Seasons 3rd Release 9th Season Single Malt 2021
Akkeshi Boshu is the third release in Akkeshi’s 24 Solar Terms series, paying homage to Japan’s traditional 24 seasons. It is a peated Japanese whisky with a rich and complex taste, with notes of milk chocolate, dried fruit and citrus. While the whisky has no age statement, it is most likely 3 years old. It is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon, wine, Mizunara oak and sherry casks. Boshu is the ninth solar term, or ‘sekki’. and marks the time to sow the grain. The early summer time is also when fireflies start to appear in Japan, as depicted on the label.
Appearance: Deep straw color with green accents.
Nose: Aromas of honey, green apple, and vanilla with subtle smoke and oak notes.
Palate: Creamy texture with flavors of tropical fruit and honey, followed by a hint of salted nuts, preserved lemon, and sandalwood.
