Port Ellen 42 Years – 200th Anniversary Edition is a rare single malt whisky produced at Port Ellen Distillery on Islay, Scotland. Founded in 1825 on Islay's southern coast, Port Ellen became one of the most revered names in Scotch whisky before closing in 1983. Following its historic reopening in 2024, this release commemorates the distillery's 200th anniversary and marks its first limited bottling since returning to production. Distilled in 1983 shortly before the distillery fell silent, this whisky matured for 42 years in European oak casks and was released in an outturn of only 150 bottles worldwide.

According to Port Ellen's official tasting notes, the nose is wonderfully complex with intensifying smoke character and luscious berry notes. Aromatic wood smoke intertwines with cranberries, red currants, dark brown sugar, raisins, sweet plum, and soft spices. The palate is full-bodied and unctuous, displaying fragrant wood smoke, caramelising brown sugars, red berries, peeled red apple skin, wood polish, glowing embers, and stewed plum. The finish is exceptionally long, with smoke fading into the distance alongside black peppercorn and hints of baking brambles.
